Support efforts to protect and preserve Guatemala’s rivers
In coordination with RIOS Guatemala, we offer the only whitewater rafting experience available in the Antigua area. Enjoy an exciting day of class II and III+ rapids on the beautiful Coyolate River.
Our goal is that through adventure whitewater sports we create an opportunity for locals to benefit from the rivers in their backyard. Additionally, we work to incentivize the care and protection of Guatemala’s rivers.

What to Expect
Our group will leave from the Old Town Outfitters Shop in Antigua at 6:00 AM. Our drive to the staging area is approximately 1.5 hours in private transport from Antigua.
At our river base, you will have the option to buy breakfast (or bring your own) and we will provide you with all the safety information before entering the river. The river trip is ~13.7 miles (22 kilometers) and lasts about 5½ hours depending on river water levels.
We will have drinks and snacks on the river and then end back at basecamp with a great lunch to wrap up the river experience. Here you will be able shower and change into dry clothes, before return to Antigua in the late afternoon.
What Our Travelers Are Saying…
Epic Adventure River Rafting on the Rio Coyolate
This review was a long time coming as it took me a while to compile the adventure into a music video that documented the experience. Max and company with the Old Town Outfitters are true professionals and experienced to deal with anything thrown their way. Water levels at the start of the trip were not sufficient as such to keep us from getting hung up a few times, but that is what makes for an Excellent Adventure (From Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure). The trip left my son and I with memories to last a life-time. Some day I will be back to Guatemala and Old Town Outfitters will definitely be getting by business.
