From the foothills of North Carolina, Matt moved to Antigua, Guatemala as a way to escape the cubicle hell of the US work life. In 1998 he opened the doors of Old Town Outfitters and hasn’t looked back since.
The Old Town Outfitters work horse. The one thing that you will always remember about being on the trail with Welber is his ear to ear infectious smile. This guy seriously knows the nooks and crannies of the Guatemalan backcountry, and not to mention has nice melons!
“Guayo” came to old town to crunch numbers. He quickly found his niche in the back office at OTO and has become the “Quarterback” of the OTO offense. If you haven’t paid your bill, chances are you’ll be talking to Guayo.
Claudia keeps the accounts and reservations moving along. She’s also one of the great smiling faces that you will see down at the shop. Don’t let her sweet smile fool ya, she’ s a power house on the trail! Oh, and if you don”t pay on time, you’ll have to deal with her!
Reinhard handles the incoming tour inquiries, you’ll probably hear from him first when you contact OTO. He’s not only a Sales Guru, he also guides some of our bigger hiking adventures. If you want to find good beer, follow this man!

Arnold returned to his native Guatemala after living in Israel, and has been working as a guide for us since. He’s part of the core guide corps at Old Town and our star striker on the football pitch.
Hailing from the metropolis of “los llanos” Milton was stolen away from working in a nearby hotel to be a force down in our shop. An avid mountain biker and outdoor enthusiast Milton might be the guy who sells you on an volcano ride then punishes you on the trail.
