Guatemala’s
impressive geography is defined by a chain of 33 volcanos
which makes up the backbone of the Guatemalan Highlands.
The 7 day intinerary focuses on the majestic volcanos
that overlook the old Spanish colonial capital of Antigua.
We will climb the spectacularly active Pacaya Volcano,
and then summit the quiet giant Agua Volcano. The next
objective will start a 3 day 2 night venture to the
top of Acatenango and Fuego volcanoes. Our experienced
guides provide all the gear and cooking equipment for
a cozy night in the saddle. With some luck Fuego will
provide some entertainment with a high altitude firework
show -- this volcano has been rumbling and firing lava
from its crater during much of the last decade. The
extended 10 day trip not only peaks Antigua’s
monsters but also takes us to the top of Central America’s
highest peak Tajamulco Volcano (13840ft). From the summit
we get views of the Guatemalan highlands, the Cuchumantes
Mountian range and well into Mexico.
